the semester is going to end..very soon. Only 3 weeks of finals left before i’m heading to a month++ rest…yeah. But i cant think about that right now. I need to crack my head and do the best for coming papers..
Before i start drowning myself among the textbooks and all, i just want to post some pictures of the EE grand dinner@ heritage last week. A good way to end a semester, i guess..

during the same night, STAR also had their own function upstairs. Unfortunately, i didnt managed to get a chance to meet the any of my former teacher there.

Before the function starts:

the ballrom..

The commitees…

The awards and lucky draws prizes…

The performers,with their zombie-like dancing moves..weird

the table..

group photos…

me and syazwan..
It was great. I just wish i can have more with the buffet! =P

salam.
*Sigh. What a relief!. My day has been a long one. Just had 3 tests, all in a single day. Nway, it does feel amazingly good, considering now its over and i have all night to myself, sipping hot Milo and just being lazy..hehe =P
Ok. As i said before, i’ll try to explain why people always says that TIME WORTH MUCH2 MORE THAN MONEY.
First, we have to realise the fact that the amount of money that we have in our hands today will worth less in the future. In other direction, the same amount of money we have in the past actually worth more than the SAME amount we have today! Get it? Try to remember: I bet you’ve heard stories from your parents saying their starting salaries were only RM 200 (and they live well!)…or the price of kuih karipap was only 5 cents in 1970s! See the differences, right?
Knowing that, i can safely say that saving your money in a tabung (so you’ll have great amount of money later on, thinking they worth the same as before) is not the best option. Good but unwise, since we already know that the value of money is relative. And to be dependant on something relative is not a very good idea.
Time, on the other hand, is as precious as it will be. But ironic enough, eventhough time will forever worth the same, the AMOUNT of time we have now will always decrease, whether we like it or not. Hmm…
Well, thats the general idea, (in a philosophical kinda way..haha). Now, you see, I came across this piece of information, clearly shows how time plays an important role in manipulating the amount of money we actually saves/invest.
The story of Ahmad, Siti and Zainal
Ahmad, Siti and Zainal . Each of them consistently invests the same amount of money, i.e. RM3,000, which earns the same interest return of 10% per year. But they start investing at different ages - Ahmad at age 18, Siti at age 22 and Zainal at age 30.When all three retire at age 55, Ahmad has more money than Siti and Zainal. He has RM467,913, whereas Siti has RM449,773 and Zainal has RM360,300.Ahmad has not only more money at age 55, he has also invested the least amount of money, i.e. RM15,000, compared to Siti who invested RM24,000 and Zainal who invested RM75,000.
Let see how the thing actually work : (open in new window for larger view)

This is only a basic example, just enough to explain amount of difference it would makes whether we start at 18 or 22. Haha. Hey I’m no finance/bussiness student, but i can see the point here. I’m sure you will too..
Till then, wasalam.
p/s: This example is not based on any particular conventional banking scheme/islamic banking.

its been a while, i know. It just that i was caught up in one of those forever hectic weeks. Alhamdulillah, Ramadhan has arrived, at last. And when it did, I’ll always have this sort of feel-good mood. =P
I decided to change the layout because some say they cant read my post, as the background color was a bit dark. And so, I opted for this very simple, yet charming theme. Haha.
Last time, i’ve shared my point about how important it is for us to have proper financial planning, so hopefully, we wont be caught in the RAT RACE. In next post, i’ll try to discuss how much more important it is to start NOW!!
Preview: Remember this,
” TIME IS WORTH SO MUCH2 MORE THAN MONEY”
and insyaAllah, i’ll provide a complete proof, in numbers! =)
Till then.

Everyone wants to successful. There’s no doubt about that. But, what makes some did it while the other did not is the WAY or HOW they choose to achieve them. Example, a lady long dreamed of becoming a successful writer, already penned hundreds of fabulous articles but none of them are published. Another situation would be, a young chef fantasies on having his own restaurant but stucked as an assistant-chef forever.
It’s a sad thing. They know what they want, by heart. They already have that mental images about their goals and so on. Problem now is, they dont have the how-to knowledge with them! Think about it. Do you know what you want? if yes, great! Now, do you know what to do and how to do it in order get them? Hmm…
More than a year ago, I bought a book called Secret Exposed series. Mine was specifically about several Australian young achievers. It was one of the books i did not regret buying it. =)

Secret of Young Achievers Exposed!
The main idea behind this book is the one actually intrigued me a lot. It says :
” If you dream of something, there’s 99.9% that somebody else had done it! “
Simply said, you find your wants, look for someone who ALREADY done it and you follow his/her steps! Sounds easy enough, right? Well, not the exact same way. Maybe you have to change a bit here and there to suit your situation.
The perfect example would be, say you are trying to bake a most delicious cake (yummie!), but you dont know how. So you did ’some’ trial and error, (which can take days on even months!) to bake the perfect cake you want. Instead, if you took a recipe book, follow a step-by-step guide written by professional chef who already make hundreds of them, you may be able to make your cake in only about a few hours! See how you can speed up in achieving your goal? It’s like taking a shortcut! =P
This same concept can be applied in your life. Do find your own perfect role model. Please dont just identify them and say” I have a role model” and done with it!. Instaed, you have to carefully studied them, find out how they were able to be successful, and try to fit them in your own planning. Read about them, find as many information that you can get. Owh, you can have as many role model as you want, you know =P
Final note: Having a role model give you the confidence that the thing you are trying to achieve is not that impossible at all! Haha…
Till then, wasalam

salam/ hey
I’m sure most of you have heard or know about the concept of RAT RACE. You heard it, give it a thought and then you forget about it. Well, this time, take your time to really think deeply about it…and make it twice! =P
For brief definition of the concept of RAT RACE, click here.
Being in an industry-driven university, often than not, i heard people keep saying things like ‘”I want to work with this company” or “This company pays you higher than THAT company” etc. It goes on to say that these people(including me!!) have already set up our mind to become workers/employees, well in this case, professional workers.
OK. thats fine with me. But then question is: for how long??. Unless your ultimate goal in life is to work until the day you retired(and you’re happy with it) ,then i would suggest you to reconsider your ‘future planning’.
This issue is strongly connected to another two most important elements in your life : DREAMS and MONEY. You see, people have the craziest dreams when they were young, but only a few are actually living they dream life. Most of us failed and end up in the RAT RACE, or what some of us call it ‘the reality’ .
To make it clear, let me explain an example of a typical modern day circle of life.
You grew up, study hard and now, you’re having your 1st degree. You keep on thinking about the ideal future you’ll have i.e you have your own company, travel to some exotic places, having your dream house&cars and the list goes on. Then, you go out and the reality sets in.
You have your first job. You love it. You work hard, thinking that you can save up for your dream life. You expenses is not a burden, yet (let just say you are a saver =P). You live with your 2/3 friends in a apartment and still drive your parents car to work. You spend for yourself.
2-3 years later. You want to get married (ngeh3). You’ve been dating for years and now, you are ready. You work harder to cover the wedding expenses (notes to the guys!) and that’s only the beginning. You need to find a new house, or maybe you even have to change yor car (to impress your in-laws =P) . Debt started, as you take up loans ( house/car etc.).Now, you spend for two people.
You have your firstborn, yeay! Again, your expenses shoot upwards. You cut off some of your own expenses in the name of sacrifice. Well, you start thinking ” I must get higher salary” or ” I need a promotion”. You work harder and harder.
You family grows. You need bigger house ( Apartment is not suitable for more than 4 people, you know). Your kids start to school. You start to save some money ( you should! ) for your kids education funds, medical insurance, buy a second car for your wife etc,(you dont even finish your house loans yet!).
Finally, you found yoursef trap in the RAT RACE, like many others. Your salary increase but it barely covers your ever-mounting expenditures. In fact, your one and only source of income is your job! Think about gambling your family life!
I think I’ve stressed my point about MONEY here, but did I ever mention about DREAMs? No! Because I bet you wont consider them at all, at that point of your life, thinking it will never be possible. You gave up on yourself. That why I said, only few ever achieve what they have dreamed. It’s sad. But true.
I think it should be enough for now, just to make you ponder. Start thinking about how can you turn your life so that you wont be trap in the Rat Race. Do tell me if you’re kind enough to share. I’m still trying to figure out mine though, and along the way,I learn a lot. Maybe I’ll post them later on. Thank you, thank you and thank you for taking your time to read this. I know its a lot! =P
p?s: For girls, thinking that ” Aahh, its not my responsibility..”, well, please dont. Because the guy who will carry all the burden is your OWN future husband *chuckle .
Till then. wasalam =)

Salam/hey
Ok, once you have registered& paid( and verified) for your webhost, the company will send your couple of emails that will guide you all the way to start. In my case, they teach me on how to register in order to acsess my CPanel, register my ftp account and so on. Just a matter of following the information.Thats all.
After all that, then you can log in to your Cpanel. Definiton:
cPanel (control Panel) is a graphical web-based web-hosting control panel, designed to simplify administration of websites. cPanel handles aspects of website administration in its interface. The software, which is proprietary and distributed by cPanel, Inc., is designed for use by commercial web hosting services, so the company does not offer a reduced-cost personal use license; however, owners of non-profit organizations such as educational institutions and charities can request a license at a free or reduced cost. Reduced prices are frequently available from dedicated-server companies, who install it along with the operating system.
Source: Wikipedia
In other word, Cpanel is simple where you manage your website! Where you upload your files, where you view your website traffic/stats and so on. Its easy when you explore Cpanel by yourself.
Now, you have the tool ready by your side, you can have a website! How? Well, thanks to Wordpress, newbies like you and me can own a cool blog using the Wordpress blogging platform. Why Wordpress? Here’s why :
- Regarded among the powerful platform for blogging
- Fleksible( how 2 spell it?) for css designers
- There are so many free wordpress template to choose( seriously cooler than free blog service..hehe)
- because i said so =P
Note: This is wordpress.org , not that free blog provided by wordpress.com!
First, go to wordpress website, and download ( latest i guess wordpress 2.6) zip file into your computer. Just follow the instruction written in the website. Once you have that zip file in your PC, go to your Cpanel and search your file manager folder. Once your have your file manager window open, there’s a icon for upload. Upload that wordpress zip file into your file manager. Voila, you have your own Wordpress admin account, and you just can start log in and post etc..
Reminder: This is just a simplified version. Its better to read the carefully constructed instruction in the Wordpress website. They already lay out everything for you.
Everything i’ve told here is exactly the process i use to create lensakecilku.com/ . This is only a small fraction, because there are lots of thing that you can control right now, not just blogging. For now, I’m using someone else’s design for my theme, but maybe in near future i’ll use my own design? Its not that dfficult anyway, you just have to figure out where to find it. Till then, wasalam =)

Salam/Hey
As i said, i never thought that creating a website is going to be very easy. I’m terrified when i tried to read ” Creating website for DUMMIES”, with all those IT terms like ftp, IP protocol and so on. Thus, doubting myself whether i’ll ever know how to make one.
I change my method. Instead of bury myself over difficult-to-understand books, i try to learn by reading through other people blogs. Wah! I never imagined that there are so many blogs that teaches me how to build a website( weblog to be precise) in a very simplified manner. I agree with the statement ” The easiest way to learn is by asking from the people to already did it! “. And so, i start to learn, slowly. Very slowly, i might add. It didnt take a long time, though. So, whoever wish to know how to create a SIMPLE website, like mine here, i’m happy to tell you in here.
Still, there are certain terms that you need to know, just for you to start. In this post, i’ll be only discussing about domain names and webhost.
Domain names is simply names that you use to direct other people to come to your site. In this case, I use ‘lensakecilku.com’ as my domain name. Just think domain name as your address, so others can find a way to come to you!
Webhost’s fuction is similar with your hard disk in your PC. It stores/host all your files and all other infomation needed for your website. The difference between them is that your webhost is not physically in your PC like your hard disk but somewhere else, according to your webhosting company.
With both definiton in mind, the first thing you should do is to search for a wehosting company that suit you nd your preference. In my case, i use DataKL.com to serve as my webhost. There are so many other companies that offers different type of packages , some may be cheaper than the others. Its all depend on your choice. Personally, i choose DataKL because the package is kinda cheap, the customer service is quite good (you get fast response when you have enquiries) and most important for me, the billing system is very easy (online banking such as Maybank2u or CIMB Clicks) .
Take your time. Search other more reknown companies like :
to name a few. You’ll find out more about their offers and packages. Ask them through emails. That surely help you a lot. Once you have your own webhost and registered your domain name( usually they come together in the package), then only you can begin to set up your website.
As I said, take your time. I’ll continue next time. Till then, goodbye =)
